Craft North is a new weekend gathering being built for people who'd rather browse a maker's stall than a shopping centre — and let their kids loose on a hillside instead of a screen.
Why we're doing this
Three days. One field. No screens required.
We started planning Craft North because the events we kept taking our own family to were either all craft and no fun for the kids, or all funfair and no substance. We wanted both — set somewhere properly beautiful.
Real makers
A field of independent craftspeople, growers and small producers — not a franchise stall in sight.
Genuinely family-focused
Hands-on activities for children that run all weekend, not a bouncy castle bolted on as an afterthought.
Proper scenery
We're holding out for a site with the kind of view you'd drive an hour out of your way for.
What we're building
A weekend built around slowing down
The full programme will take shape alongside the site, but the shape of the weekend itself is already settled — here's what we're designing around.
A working craft field
Demonstrations you can actually watch start to finish — throwing pots, working wood, spinning wool — not just stalls to browse past.
A kids' craft corner
A dedicated space with its own programme, so children have somewhere to make things rather than just something to look at.
Music on the green
Local folk and acoustic acts through the afternoons — background, not a headline act drowning out conversation.
Food worth queueing for
Yorkshire producers and small kitchens rather than a row of identical burger vans.
Covered and outdoor space
Enough shelter that a Yorkshire shower doesn't send everyone home — this is the north, we're planning for it.
Dog friendly, by design
Well-behaved dogs welcome across the site — this is Dales countryside, after all.

Nothing's fixed yet — and that's the point
We're deliberately holding off on ticket prices, a running order, or a stallholder list until the site is confirmed. Register your interest and we'll come to you first with details as they're locked in.
Calling makers, growers & traders
Trade with us
We're building the vendor list before we've fixed the field — because the people on it will shape what the weekend feels like. If that's you, we want to hear from you early.
Craft & textiles
Potters, woodworkers, weavers, leatherworkers and anyone who makes things by hand and can talk about how.
Food & drink
Yorkshire producers, small-batch kitchens, farm shops and drinks makers — sit-down, street food or stall.
Growers & garden
Nurseries, florists, allotment suppliers — anyone bringing the outdoors to the stalls.
Workshops & demos
Pottery, woodwork, foraging, textiles — if you can teach a proper skill in a focused 1–2 hour session, we want a corner of the field for you. Workshops run as paid, bookable sessions for adults and older kids alike; free drop-in demos are also welcome if you'd rather just show off your craft.

We're set on the Dales or the wider North Yorkshire countryside — and we're taking the time to find the right field rather than the first one available.
Drystone walls, not motorway service stations
What we're shortlisting for:
- A field with a proper view — hills, dales or moorland, not a car park backdrop.
- Easy reach of a market town, so there's parking, camping options and somewhere to stay nearby.
- Enough ground for a working craft field, a stage, food stalls and space for children to actually run about.
- Room for dogs on leads and buggies alike — this has to work for the whole family.
